Heritage / Adaptive Reuse
Designed by architect Alexander Brown Wilson and built c. 1902 to c. 1908, the iconic Lamb House sits elegantly on the Kangaroo Point cliffs overlooking the Brisbane River and city. This wonderful Federation-era home is now affectionately known as ‘Home’ and will be brought back from the brink of destruction by new owners, Steve and Jane Wilson. JDA Co., with architect David Gole, is leading the highly anticipated revitalisation project.
Using Spatial Ops technology, we were able to provide the architects with an accurate 3D model of the building and grounds as well as creating a historical record of the house. We used point cloud data from the 3D laser scan to provide base drawings in Revit/CAD, with detailing from skirtings to balustrades, to large tree diameters and building facades. This digital capture from a three-day site visit enabled us to start the sketch design process within a short timeframe. The intricate detail captured by the scanner would traditionally be unattainable at such speed using manual measurements to replicate and restore building elements, such as fretwork. We also used the laser scanner to document information beyond the site, such as viewpoints across the Kangaroo Point cliffs up to one kilometre away.
